Refresher Chainsaw Safety Awareness Training

OPA requires Chainsaw Card Holders to refresh their knowledge of safe saw techniques every three 3 years. This one (1) day refresher seminar helps satisfy these requirements.


Prerequisite: Successful completion of the OPA Two Day Parks Oriented Chainsaw Safety Training course. Once registered the OPA office will validate your eligibility to attend this training and we will then send an invoice for payment.

The course will cover:

  • PPE & Legislative Requirements 
  • Chainsaw Maintenance & Sharpening Techniques 
  • Safe Chainsaw Starting & Handling Practices 
  • Field Practices (Felling [Notching & Back Cutting], Bucking Techniques & Tools)

This is the Legends on the Niagara Golf Complex maintenance facility. Please see map below, the in-class facility is located by the X)

PARTICIPANTS MUST HAVE PROPER PPE IN ORDER TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS COURSE

  • CSA Approved Type 1 or Type 2 Class C or E helmet (within 5 years old)
  • Hearing protection (exceeds 85 decimals)
  • Gloves (comfortable fitting leather or composite)
  • Eye protection
  • Safety boots (Green Patch Safety approved with ankle protection - minimum height of 7 eyelets - safety shoes or Blundstones are not acceptable)
  • Full leg chaps or Chainsaw Pants with UL label that is visible (3000 feet per minute (FPM) or greater)

Lunch is NOT provided at this location – please bring a lunch
