CHAINSAW SAFETY AWARENESS TRAINING -TWO DAY 


The Department of Labour requires that all parks professionals who use chainsaws on the job be trained in their safe operation.

 

This two (2) day seminar helps satisfy these requirements.

 

The course will cover:


  • Safety regulations and PPE
  • Identification and inspection of all chainsaw safety components
  • Inspection and adjustment of a chainsaw
  • Starting and stopping techniques
  • Safe handling of a chainsaw
  • Woodlot assessment and hazards
  • Felling techniques for trees greater then 5" dbh
  • Bucking and limbing
  • Pole saw and cutting attachments
  • Competence test


PARTICIPANTS MUST HAVE PROPER PPE
IN ORDER TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS COURSE

    • Class E Type 2 helmet (less than 5 years old)

    • Hearing protection (exceeds 85 decimals)

    • Gloves (comfortable fitting leather or composite)

    • Eye protection

    • Safety boots (Green Patch Safety approved with a minimum height of 7 eyelets)

    • Full leg chaps or chainsaw pants with UL label that is visible (3000 feet per minute (FPM) or greater)

    NOTE: Chainsaws will be provided at this training, you are not required to bring your own chainsaw.

    Outdoor Location (6 minute drive):  Lion’s Trail entrance ~ 51 Bexley Street, Woodstock, ON N4S 5X7

    Lunch is NOT provided at this location – please bring a lunch, snacks and drinks (water etc.) to both days of training. 

    PAYMENT: Once you have registered online an invoice will be issued by our office and emailed to the email address used for registration. Payment can be made online once the invoice has been received from our accounting department. You can also pay via cheque (made payable to Ontario Parks Association) and mailed to 60 Water Street North, Cambridge, ON N1R 3B1.
